The City of Melbourne, together with other local governments, cultural and educational institutions, and private-sector corporations is investigating the purchase of renewable energy through a group purchasing model.
The group wants to purchase 110 GWh worth of energy from new utility scale renewable energy facilities. Through a group tender process, the group seeks proposals from the market to deliver renewable energy at an attractive price. The proposals will also need to demonstrate a range of community and economic benefits.
Procurement Australia held a tender briefing session for energy industry suppliers on Tuesday 15 December, 2015. The audio and presentation files from that briefing can be downloaded from www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/renewables.The final tender documents supersede information provided in the industry briefing session.
The tender is now open via Procurement Australia and is available for download for a fee of $80 from www.tenderlink.com/procurementaustralia. The closing date of the tender is Monday 20 June, 2016. The last date for submitting questions is Monday 9 May 2016.
