Procurement Australia officially kicked off on 28 January 2010 at the MCG. We had nearly 150 players register to hear about the exciting new season ahead. The Inaugural Procurement Excellence Awards 2009 were announced on Friday 28th August at the Annual Awards Dinner. These awards recognise outstanding achievements and highlight the exceptional capabilities and initiative of procurement professionals in our sector.

The procurement function across the local government sector has over the past year been promoted and recognised as an integral and important part of business function. This awards program is a response to that activity and seeks to recognise the importance of public sector procurement, to increase the awareness and recognition of the work of procurement professionals across the sector and acknowledge the significant work undertaken by our member organisations and individuals to promote a professional approach to procurement within their own organisations and across the sector.
